beyond'redemption

The overall pattern of circles in this image is something that appeals to me. The way the circles of the straws have a heightened focus and tone than the background allow them to catch one's eye. The straws also add and interesting perspective and depth to the photograph.
The limited colours work well for the image and the darkness gives the viewer a hint of the darkness this character faces and how they're "Beyond redemption"... The subtle dust specks add a little deterioration to the work as well, as if the imagery itself is beyond redemption.
As a suggestion, I feel that there's a little too much darkness at the top of the image that really just takes up space. Try experimenting with the cropping and perhaps try a version where you don't include the black up top and maybe have it cropped to just above the first of the straws at the top. This will provide more emphasis on the character and the straws.
